TeaGschwendner Laboratory

Since the very beginning, TeaGschwendner has been committed to the concepts of environmentally sustainable and controlled tea production. With increased technology and social awareness come ever rising standards of quality, especially in regards to factors such as residue control and food safety. These objective standards are central to our selection criteria.

Unfortunately, many teas consumed around the world undergo no testing whatsoever. In addition, many international laboratories vary their equipment, methods and procedures. Quality and control are the main reasons why we decided to build our own in-house laboratories. These facilities permit us to test each sample and shipment that passes through our doors. Only with private control and verification can we stand behind our guarantee of quality. Today, every TeaGschwendner tea undergoes the same extensive screening for residues and contaminants to ensure the highest quality teas our customers have learned to expect.

Our Commitment:

• To base purchasing decisions on consistent and reliable testing procedures
• To maintain full control of our analysis methodology thereby maintaining high standards and reacting quickly to new technologies and standards
• To quickly analyze those samples that pass our sensory testing procedures and deliver the freshest teas to our customers
• To test and retest shipments to check for variations in quality

Our new laboratory wing was built in 2000. Dr. Ing. Thomas Henn from the University of Bonn was contracted to plan the laboratory which includes sections for preparation and extraction, cleansing/ concentration, identification/categorization and safety procedures. Dr. Henn also plays an important role for quality control in the German and the European Tea Union. In addition to our rigorous in house laboratory procedures, we still ask to be tested by independent experts to ensure additional control and verification.
