General Manager - Tea Retail Shop and European Bistro

TeaGschwendner is looking for a "Celebrity Manager" ready to take the reins of our flagship Retail Store and European Bistro at 1624 S. Randall Road in Algonquin Commons. By celebrity manager we mean someone with a passion for exceptional customer service and an inspirational, team oriented leadership style. Our managers are not simply operational administrators or role players in a large, impersonal machine. Each TeaGschwendner Manager is an independent business person with profit and loss responsibilities and the freedom to build your staff, experiment with sales strategies, and create the work environment you always knew was possible.

The Algonquin Retail Shop and Bistro is split between roughly 1,000 square feet of tea retail space (complete with a collection of more than 250 premium loose teas and dozens of tea accessories) and a small Bistro of 30 seats inside with a patio that seats 20 outside. The Bistro menu is light, fresh, made to order sophisticated European fare with a focus on complementing the tea collection. Dishes include home-made soups, sandwiches, salads, light entrees, tea service and pastries.

TeaGschwendner is the world’s largest Specialty Tea retailer with more than 140 shops in eight countries on four continents. Through our Internet and Wholesale operations we sell tea all around the world. We opened our first North American store in Chicago in 2005 and are expanding across the US. We’re looking to build a bright, ambitious, customer service oriented team to help us share the world’s finest teas with our loyal customers.

This is an excellent opportunity to get in on a ground floor leadership position with this exciting and growing company.
